Jerome E. “Jerry” Specht, age 94 of Buffalo, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Park Terrace Assisted Living in Buffalo.

He was born on July 15, 1922 in Moorhead, Minnesota the son of John & Hattie (Melberg) Specht.

Jerry grew up in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1940 as Salutatorian.
He honorably served in The United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

On April 19, 1947, Jerome E. Specht and Beatrice M. Holt were joined in holy marriage at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville. God blessed their marriage with three children.

Jerry graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1950.

He was Wright County Agent from 1952 until 1967. Jerry later became The Member Service’s Director at Wright Hennepin Electric for eighteen years until he retired.

Through the years, he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, member of the Buffalo American Legion, Charter Member of The Buffalo Rotary Club, served on The Buffalo School Board and on the Buffalo Hospital Board. Jerry also taught 55 Alive for twenty three years and served on the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C. In 2008, he was named Wright County Senior Citizen of the Year.

Jerry and Bea enjoyed their retirement winters in Texas and Arizona. In 2010, he enjoyed a Honor Flight to The World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Preceded in death by loving wife Bea, his parents, a great granddaughter Maddi Jo Specht and by a sister Marian Wickersham.

Survived by children: Jeff (Jerris) Specht of Mesa, AZ, Sharon (Mike) Hickman of Golden Valley and LeAnn (Harley) Pommier of Buffalo; grandchildren: Jerry Specht, Jenny (Tim) Lamott & Jodi (Travis) Isaacson; Jana Hickman; Josh (Miranda) Pommier; great grandchildren: Blake; Sydney & Emily; Caitlyn, Mika, Hailey & Finley; Hannah & Lydia; a sister: Joyce Novak.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Private interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, December 14th one hour prior to the Celebration.

Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church’s Foundation, Guardian Angels Hospice and to Park Terrace Assisted Living.
