Visitation Information

Jeanne Mae Earlywine, age 71, of Buffalo passed away October 31, 2010 at her residence.

Jeanne was born October 16, 1939 in Minneapolis to Harry and Harriet (Meyer) Orttel.

In her younger years, Jeanne was a model and while modeling she met and fell in love with another model, Rodney (Rod) Earlywine. She and Rod were married a year later on December 23, 1961. They were lucky enough to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary before Rod’s passing in 2009.

Jeanne enjoyed painting, playing cards and other games, attending her grandchildren’s games, concerts and other activities, going to the “lake cabin” on weekends, traveling, holidays with her family, bird watching (hummingbirds and blue birds were her favorite), watching the Vikings games, dining out, doing word finds, occasionally going to the casino and anything having to do with nature or history.

Jeanne is survived by her two children; Dawn (Dean) Hilgers and Rod (Amy) Earlywine; grandchildren; Lauren, Alec and Carly Hilgers, Dylan and Eric Earlywine; sisters, Marjorie (Gene, deceased) Leonhardt, Joan (Jim, deceased) Lane, Debbie (Randy) Hill and Wendy (Larry) Ortendahl; mother-in-law Nora Pearl Earlywine; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harry W. Orttel.

Jeanne dearly loved and missed the love of her life, Rod. She was a very beautiful, smart, strong woman who refused to allow her medical issues to control her life choices. She had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was a very loving, nurturing, supportive, non-judgmental, optimistic parent and grandparent. She was easy to talk to and people felt they could tell her anything.

A memorial service will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 5:00pm, with visitation from 4:00 until time of service at the Peterson Chapel, 119 Central Avenue, Buffalo. Inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with the arrangements.
