Jeanne Irene (Steindorf) Courteau, died on April 11, 2023 in Maple Plain, MN.

She met the love of her life, Larry Courteau at the VanCleve Park at the age of 13!  They married in 1949 and spent a short time in Faribault, MN then back to Minneapolis.   Four children were born there.

In 1960, they moved to Maple Plain after buying the funeral home there, where Larry was the director.

Four more children were born while they were in Maple Plain.   They operated the funeral home there until 1995, when Larry retired and they moved to Waverly on the lake.   They stayed there until 2015, when Larry went into a nursing home.

They were married for sixty-seven years when God called Larry to heaven.    Jeanne carried on as a widow at Haven Homes Assisted Living until her passing at age 94.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, sister Donna, husband Larry, children Renee Courteau, Ellen Stotts and Laura Kunz, grandsons Kevin Stotts Jr. and Daniel Schanus, great grandson Daniel Schanus Jr.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was very talented in sewing, decorating, cooking great meals and being a loving caregiver to her husband who has MS for forty-seven years.   She loved living at her lake home in Waverly and hosted many lake days for her family and friends.

She was very devoted to her LORD and her church and had a strong faith in God.   She was very much looking forward to seeing her loved ones and her Savior Jesus in Heaven, when God called her to her final home after a short time in hospice.

Your mother was a beautiful and wonderful woman! I will always remember her calm, quiet manner, and her kindness. I thought of her on Easter Sunday (April 9) while I was in Texas, and was going to look her up to visit her because I figured her time on earth may be short. And then two days later…

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she, and all the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Dearest Pete and Kim, We share in your sorrow for the loss of your dear sweet mother! She and I worked in the Church Nursery caring for the little ones during Mass at St George 40 years ago. She was so tender and loving to the children. I was privileged to bring her Holy Communion at Haven Homes. May she enjoy the beatific vision of Our Lord. Love and Prayers, Bill and Jean Kottemann
