Yvonne “Jeanne” (Hale) Duchscher, age 68 of Buffalo, MN passed away October 10, 2020.
She was born on April 16, 1952 in Ghent, West Virginia to Billie Ralph Hale, Sr and Dora Boggess. She was raised in Rugby, North Dakota by her aunts, Jean and Alma Hale. Jeanne attended high school in Rugby, and graduated with the class of 1970. She furthered her education by briefly attending college in Minot.
On March 6, 1971, Jeanne was united in marriage to Timothy Duchscher in their hometown. The two had met when Tim returned home from serving with the United States Marine Corps. Following their marriage, they moved to Flint, Michigan where their daughter, Cindy was born. Their son, Chris was born not long after in 1974. The family then moved back to North Dakota in 1975, and made a few more moves to other cities in North Dakota and South Dakota before they eventually settled in Buffalo, MN in 2016 to be closer to family. Jeanne had worked as the city finance officer in Parker, South Dakota until her retirement in 2016. She was quite proud to be the 2013 President of the South Dakota Municipal Government association.
In her free time, she loved baking delicious treats for friends and family, crocheting and knitting scarves, afghans and hats for presents, hosting dinner parties, and was an avid card player. Jeanne loved Christmas, and made it special for everyone. She’d go all out with her festive decorations and create her own winter wonderland in the house. She was a very proud Marine wife and a constant supporter of the Minnesota Vikings. She had a bubbly and outgoing personality, and loved a good laugh and conversation. She especially cherished spending time with her family creating special memories.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her father and aunts.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tim; children, Chris (Joey) and Cindy; grandson, Jackson; pet, Buddy; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the American Cancer Society be made in her memory.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 12 PM with visitation one-hour prior at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN. Interment will take place at the Fargo National Cemetery in Harwood, North Dakota on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1 PM.

I was lucky enough to work with Jeanne at the school in Wall SD. Not only was she a coworker, but she became a fast friend to me. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.

Jeanne came to the Buffalo Community Center to join in playing Hand and Foot. On our first meeting there was a bond of love that we both felt for each other. It was amazing how close we had grown from being “total strangers” to becoming “total friends”. Jeanne was the kind of person you could not help but love. So difficult to convey this message concerning the loss of Jeanne. Loved having her as “the kid” next door and our friendship continued for ever. So very many memories. Jeanne was such a wonderful person. She has been missed already at our Finance Officer meetings. She always brought humor to every situation and said what we were all thinking. Many prayers to her family and friends.
I was lucky enough to know and work with Jeanne with hers at the Wall School District as Business Manager and then with the SDML with her as Finance Officer of Parker. I never met Jean, but I remember my dad talking about Bill Hale and Dora Mae having a daughter that lived in North Dakota. My mom died when I was nine so I knew very little of her family. My mom and her mom were sisters. I happened to look on her facebook since my daughter found some genealogy on the family. I hated to hear she was dead. We were around the same age. I’m sorry for the family since I know how much it hurts.
I’m so sorry to hear about Jeanne passing, her mother and my mother were sisters. I had just found her a couple years ago. She called me and we talked for a couple of hours. We chatted some on Facebook. Her sister Brenda Shoun lives in Texas.
Remembering my dear friend on her birthday this year which would have been her 69th. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t think of my dear friend. My heart hurt when she left and is still hurting. Til we meet in heaven someday.
