Janet S. Makela

Age 75 of North Oaks, MN, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015. She was born April 8, 1940 in Menahga, MN to Walter Eino and Lila Sylvia Makela.

She is a 1958 graduate of Menahga High School and was a bartender at the Hilltop bar in Hanover, MN for 25 years. Janet enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards –being a great player of 500 rummy, sitting in the sun, and time at the lake with her soulmate, Gene, who passed in 2008.

Preceded in death by her soulmate, Gene Volk; parents, Eino and Sylvia Makela; sister, Karen; and best friend, Laura.

Survived by children, Mike Ashley and Mark (Michelle) Ashley; grandchildren, Rance Ashley, Kennedy Ashley, Conan Ashley, Serena and Angel; one great-grandchild; siblings, Darlene (Kenny) Reini, Raymond Makela, Roger (Sylvia) Makela, Kenny Makela, Randy (Carol) Makela, David Makela; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Casket bearers are Rance Ashely, Kennedy Ashley, Conan Ashley, Randy Makela, David Makela, and Adam Makela.
