March 10, 1945 – May 10, 2019

James Edward “Jim” Bonk, age 74 of Buffalo passed away on Friday, May 10th, 2019 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born on March 10, 1945 in Buffalo the son of Ruben & Millie (Perisian) Bonk.

Jim attended Buffalo High School and was in the class of 1963.

He then served in the United States Army from 1965 till 1967 where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.

On May 3, 1969, Jim and Ruth Otten were joined in holy matrimony. God blessed their marriage with two sons Jarrod and Ryan.

Jim drove truck for Buffalo Bituminous and Knife River for over forty years until he retired.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Jim loved his pickup truck, gator, auctions, horses, cattle and talking with friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Ruth of fifty years; his sons: Jarrod and Ryan; siblings: Linda (Alvin) Bodin, Vicky Endreson, Rick (Peggy) Bonk, Mike Bonk and Randy (Lisa) Bonk; a brother-in-law: Robert Buckley; a sister-in-law: Joan Witte; an aunt: Dorothy Schindler; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Mildred “Millie” Bonk on August 2, 2010 and Ruben Bonk on May 29, 2014, a brother Dale Bonk on January 29, 1997, a brother Ronald “Curly” Bonk on August 12, 2000 and by a sister Marlene Buckley on November 1, 2000.

Funeral services for Jim Bonk will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 14th at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.  Pastor Ryan Clark will officiate.   Interment will follow at  Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

A visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH Monday, May 13th from 4-8 P.M.  A Prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M.   Further visitation one hour prior to services on Tuesday morning, May 14th at the church.

Casket Bearers will be Tim Daluge, Brian Danielson, Lloyd Christenson, Nick Schendel, Luke Schendel and Bill Elletson.

    sorry for the loss of Jim, to the entire Bonk family! There are many good memories of him in high school and of him and his brother Curly on the team, even though I was a year older than Jim. I loved both of them, just good humored and caring,honest farm boys.
