James Arthur Franklin, age 89, of Big Lake passed away on Friday, August 30th, 2013 at Wellstead of Rogers.
He was born on November 24, 1923 in Pineville, Kentucky the son of Calvin A. & Hassie Mae (Renner) Franklin.
James honorably served his Country in The United States Navy during World War II. He served on the USS Edgar Allen Poe as Ship’s Cook Second Class.
On September 28th, 1949, James Franklin & LaVerne Hintz were joined in holy marriage at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. God blessed their marriage with four children.
James was the founder of Franklin Outdoor Advertising establishing in 1977. He retired in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing.
James was a member of Lord of Glory Lutheran Church in Elk River. He also served as an Elder and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Survived by loving wife of 64 years: LaVerne; Children: Elizabeth Hanson, Barbara (Warren) Hartwell and Keith (Julie) Franklin; son-in-law: Tom Shore; 10 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren; half brother: Charles Albrecht & half sister: Betty; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters and a daughter: Cindy Shore.
Funeral services for James Franklin will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church in Elk River. Pastor Marty Mably will officiate.
Interment Howard Lake Public Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, September 4th one hour prior to services.
Casket Bearers will be Daniel Franklin, Thomas Franklin, Jeff Hanson, Joshua Larson, James Hartwell and Bobbi Anderson.
My thoughts & prayers are with the Franklin family. It is written that: Heaven is the reward; Jesus is the Ladder. May God’s Love be your strength and comfort during these difficult times. Be assured that Jim has been reunited with Cindy in the Kingdom of Heaven. So now cast your burden on the Lord; for He will sustain you… Psalms 55:22
