Ivan Edwin Olsen, age 81, of Buffalo formerly of Deerwood, Minnesota, strolled peacefully on his journey to eternal rest on New Year’s Day at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota

Ivan Edwin Olsen was born December 15, 1929 in Nobles County, Worthington, Minnesota to Oscar and Ida (Polzine) Olsen. He grew up in southwest Minnesota and graduated from Lamberton High School. He was united in marriage to Alice Reynolds on November 19, 1950. They lived in the Hamel and Plymouth, Minnesota area where Ivan worked his way up at Van Dusen Silo-Matic, eventually owning the business. For many years, Ivan served as a Boy Scout Master. In 1990 he happily retired to his cabin near Deerwood, Minnesota and enjoyed wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Buffalo, children; James Olsen of Loretto, MN, Beverly (Tom) Leckie-Scheirer, of Jacobson, MN, Douglas Olsen of Hibbing, MN, Jeffrey (Diane) Olsen of Brainerd, MN, Beth (Clyde) Wachman of Delano, and Daniel (Jane) Olsen of Rogers, MN, eleven grandchildren; Ian, Erin, Jennifer (Scott), Justin (Mary), Courtney, Kelsey, Ashley (Andy), Abby, Wes, Joe and Chloe, five great grandchildren, Hannah, Xavier, Varner, Avianna and Katie. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister; Dale Olsen of Burnsville, MN, Garry Wayne Olsen of Forest Lake, MN, and LaVerne Cohrs of Currie, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, MN with the Rev. Ron Prasek officiating. Special music will be provided by Michael Sahlen and Kristin Skare.

Visitation will be at the church 4:30 until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Park Terrace, the Arthritis Association or Word of Peace Lutheran Church.

The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.

    Someone who made such an impact. Someone who joked, tried running me over, and on many occasions had a dig for me! That someone, IVAN! I’m so honored to have cared for him and he will always hold a very special place in my heart. I will hold our time singing close to my heart in my memories for a lifetime.
