Irving S. Mann, age 92 of St. Michael, MN passed away February 20, 2019 at his residence. He was born on October 31, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois; the son of Jacob and Bessie (Stein) Silverman. Irving moved to Minneapolis as a young child and worked in his parent’s store.
He proudly enlisted to serve in the U.S. Navy at the young age of 17 on September 11, 1944. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged on June 17, 1946. He loved his country and was proud of his service to it. After his time in the military, he attended the University of Minnesota.
Irving was joined in marriage to Susan Wojciak on May 15, 1983.
Irving spent the better part of his life working at Blue Ribbon Food Service/Twin Cities Sales and Credit.
He was strong and stern, but had a heart of gold. He was a jokester. Family was of the utmost importance to him. He was happiest when he had his family around him.
He was an avid reader; he enjoyed mysteries as well as keeping up on current events. Irving loved music and had an eclectic taste. Dancing was a favorite pastime.
Irving could never SIT DOWN! He was always fidgeting with something or another! He also enjoyed “Jewish camping” with the motor home as he was not one for roughing it! He loved to tell stories of time he spent with his grandchildren. He learned from his mother that your children are your investments; your grandchildren are your interest, and your great-grandchildren are your dividends.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Michael I. Mann, Steven L. Mann, Caryl E. Willey, Jill Leroux, Lisa Stock, Richard Stock, Steven J. Mann, Cathy Williams, and Nykol Haug; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Sherwin Silverman; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 4 PM with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael, MN.
Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 10:45 AM with military honors provided by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. For those attending the burial, arrive at the cemetery no later than 10:30 AM and meet in assembly area #2.
