STREIFF, IRMA E. (KRETZSCHMAR) of Buffalo passed away on September 21. She was born on October 25, 1918 at Villard, MN. Survived by daughter Wynn Susan (Rev. Greg) Flint of Eugene, OR. Sons Charles (Paula) of Waconia, MN and Don (Donna) of Neillsville, WI. Eight grandchildren: Kirstin, Katie, Andrew and Ben Streiff; Nathan (Gina) Flint and Emily Stolte; Jenny (Andy) Pekarske and Andrea (Ben) Buss. Three great-grandchildren Natali and John Michael Flint and Jackson Swan. Also survived by childhood friend Pat Windhorst, Minneapolis, and long-time friends Lou Nelson of Crookston, MN and Pat Michaelson of Dawson, MN.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Winsor, on December 3, 2004; her parents Rev. John and Elise (Lange) Kretzschmar; brothers Walter, Rev. Arnold, Ernest, Theo and Carl; sisters Dorothy Sutherland, Gertrude Hansing and Luella McGhie.

After graduating from Chatfield, MN High School in 1936, Irma earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 1940. She remained an active U of M supporter all her life. She taught at high schools in Kimball, Wayzata, Minneapolis and Duluth. She and Winsor Streiff were married on July 11, 1944 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo, serving as president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for many years. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters, served as a city and school election clerk and volunteer for the food shelf and hospital auxiliary. Member of the Buffalo Heights Golf League and in later years of the Golden Girls Golf League.

Irma will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, including the staff and residents at Park View Care Center, where she lived most recently. She was devoted to her family all her life and had a ready smile for her many friends and acquaintances in her church and community.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Park View Care Center in Buffalo on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1 pm.
