Visitation Information

Inez Thoren, Buffalo, MN, was called to her heavenly rest in the arms of Jesus on June 10, 2010.

Until that time she enjoyed good health. Inez was born August 13, 1912, at Beresford, SD. As an infant she moved with her family to Holmquist, SD, where she lived until she was nine years old. Her family then moved to Kerkhoven, MN, where she graduated from high school. She attended St. Cloud Teachers’ College from 1929-30 and then enjoyed teaching rural schools in Swift and Kandiyohi counties for five years.

Moving to Minneapolis, MN, she was employed at the University of Minnesota until after her marriage to Enoch Thoren in 1940. Three children, John David, Lois Elaine, and Jul Esther, were born to them.

After the children were in school, she was employed at Sears Roebuck & Co., from which she retired in 1978. In 1976, her husband suffered a stroke. In 1979 they moved to Buffalo, where they resided until their deaths.

Inez was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Minneapolis over fifty years. After moving to Buffalo, she attended the Buffalo Covenant Church. In her later years she enjoyed reading, volunteering for the local Republican party, playing Scrabble, participating in Bible studies, and sewing projects for the benefit of missions. She lived independently until 2008 when she moved to Lakeridge Manor.

Inez was preceded in death by husband Enoch in 1988. She is survived by her three children, John (Judy) Thoren of Neenah, WI; Lois (Richard) Barth of Buffalo; Jul (David) Stone of Indonesia. Also survived by six grandchildren: Jeremy (Rebecca) Thoren, Jefferson (special friend Liz) Thoren, Peter (Jessica) Barth, Anne Barth, and Eric (Rachel) Stone, and Laura (Aaron) Bowman; and four great-grandchildren: Kyla and Nolan Thoren and Vian and Imaan Stone. Honorary daughter Beverly Olson Jacobsen and her sons Carl and David, of Kenyon, MN, as well as many relatives and friends.

Inez was interred at Mission Cemetery in Buffalo, MN. Memorial service was held Monday, June 14, at Buffalo Covenant Church, Rev. Carl Taylor, officiating.
