Howard William Eicher, age 89, of St. Michael and formerly of Shoreview passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at The Wellstead of Rogers.

He was born on June 15, 1928 at his family home in St. Michael, Minnesota, the youngest child of Matthias F. & Louisa (Jaeb) Eicher’s thirteen children.

Howard honorably served his Country in The United States Army during the Korean War.

On October 3rd, 1953, Howard W. Eicher and Lenore S. Kasper were joined in holy marriage at The St. Michael Catholic Church. God blessed their marriage with three children.

One of the things Howard enjoyed the most was being the leader of a dance band for forty years. ‘The Eicher Band’, which included several of his brothers, later was reformed and became ‘The Cardinals’.

He was a faithful and active member of The St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Howard loved debating politics, walking and doing crossword puzzles. He was an accomplished baseball player, making it to the minor leagues, and was a lifelong Minnesota Twins fan.

He was a former longtime employee of The Minnesota Department of Transportation specializing in matters of real estate.

Survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years: Lenore S. Eicher; children: Gordon (Buffie) Eicher of Austin, Texas, Ramona Eicher of Buffalo and Stanley (Joyce) Eicher of Woodbury; four grandchildren: Maddie Eicher and Karl (Rachel) Eicher; Allyssa Eicher and Grant Eicher; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.

Uncle Howard, you were one of the good guys. Friends of mine who met you once or twice long ago remember you – “he seems fun”, “has a great laugh”, “sharp guy”, “likes to talk politics, right?”. Yes, you left a mark on more people than you probably realized. (I’ve got the CD’s you made for mom and play them periodically.) And now you are whole, making noise with your siblings and others from the earthly past. Love and Cheers to you.
