Helen M. Shoen, age 93 of Buffalo, passed away on March 22, 2017 at Cottagewood of Buffalo, MN.
Helen was born On April 19, 1923, the daughter of Noel and Edith (Tabert) Rardon in St. Paul, MN.
On January 8, 1944 Helen was united in marriage to Harold “Red” Shoen in Lafayette, IN. Helen and Harold owned and operated the Lafayette Resort on Clearwater Lake in Annandale, MN for thirteen years.
Helen enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Red Hat Society in Buffalo and St. Francis Xavier parish. Helen also enjoyed her time at their trailer on the Vermillion River in Buyck, MN making many long-lasting friendships. Helen’s hobbies included ceramic works, needlecraft and painting.
Her greatest enjoyment was the time that she was able to spend with her family. The time spent together and memories made are things her family will always treasure.
She is survived by her children Richard (Norma) Shoen of Ft. Worth, TX, Ronald (Judy) Shoen of Meridian, ID, Roberta (James) Huikko of Buffalo, MN and Robert (Cali) Shoen of White Bear Lake, MN. She is survived by grandchildren Sara, Amy Kate, Jamee, Matthew, Molly and Katie; several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her mother Edith, husband Harold and grandson, Joshua.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

    It was with deep sadness I learned of your mother’s passing. She was a loving, caring woman. I remember the kindnesses she extended to me when I was a young woman. My deepest sympathy to you all.
