Harvey Walton Johnson, age 90, of Buffalo and formerly of Minnetonka passed away on Friday, August 23rd, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on March 19, 1923 in Fertile, Minnesota the son of Helmer & Hulda Nyen Johnson.
Harvey graduated from Fertile High School in 1941 and later attended an Agricultural-Mechanic College.
He honorably served his Country in The United States Army receiving two Bronze Stars while serving in The Asiatic Pacific Theater.
On September 28, 1968, Harvey W. Johnson and Delores A. Carlson were joined in holy marriage in Thief River Falls. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.
Harvey was formerly employed at Eide Construction and was a longtime member of The Carpenter’s Union Local # 1644.
He enjoyed carving, fishing, hunting and was a former lumber jack. He was also a founder of The Fertile Flying Club and was a pilot.
Harvey was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis where he served on the Church Council and Building Committee.
Survived by his loving wife: Delores A. Johnson; daughters: Lynda (David) Resch and Sandra (Peter) Churness; grandchildren: Hannah, Megan and Caleb Churness; brothers: Arlie (Beverly) Johnson and Helmer “Bud” (Sharon) Johnson; two sisters-in-law: Thorine Johnson and Karen Johnson and by a brother-in-law: Reverend David Proctor; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, two infant siblings, brothers: Alton & Norris Johnson and by a sister: Beverly Proctor.
Funeral services for Harvey Johnson will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1901 Portland Avenue S., in Minneapolis.
Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27th from 5-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
Further visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28th one hour prior to services at the church.
Casket Bearers will be Earl Johnson, Alan Johnson, Mark Johnson, Sheldon Carlson, Shannon Carlson, Sten Johnson.
