Harvey John Behrenbrinker, age 92 of rural Buffalo passed away September 14, 2013 at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born on November 11, 1920 at the family farm in Chatham Township the son of Conrad & Christine Paumen Behrenbrinker.

Harvey graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1939.

Harvey honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as Chief Petty Officer upon the USS Riddle 1942-1945. He received national recognition on his 90th birthday for his military service.

Harvey farmed the family homestead established in 1884. After retiring he worked many years with the Buffalo Parks Dept.

Harvey was an active, faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church throughout his life. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the Maple Lake V.F.W. Post # 7664 and the Buffalo American Legion Post 270. He served on the Chatham Township Board and as a State Fire Warden. Harvey was active in the National Farmers Organization (NFO) serving as a delegate to several national conventions. He was a dedicated steward of the land and was generous with his time and resources in the community. Harvey’s love of life and family now goes peacefully onto our lord.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years: Corrinne; children: Gail (Bruce) Brong, Michael Behrenbrinker, Stephen (Patti) Behrenbrinker, Andrea Ahlm, Marie (William) Behrenbrinker Wolk, Carol (Scott) Haarstad, Donna (Monty) Finnell, Alan Behrenbrinker, Brian (Kim) Behrenbrinker; fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Harvey is preceded in death by parents: Conrad & Christine Behrenbrinker, granddaughter: Ava Lee Behrenbrinker, sisters: Margaret Vieau, Helen Ulvinen, Mary Behrenbrinker, Elaine Kuduk, Genevieve Behrenbrinker brother: Raymond Behrenbrinker.

Visitation will be held on Thursday September 19, 2013 at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 4-8pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harvey Behrenbrinker will be held on Friday September 20, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo at 10am. Father David Hennen will be the Celebrant.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.

Casket Bearers: Sebastian Brong, Andrew Behrenbrinker, Patrick Ahlm, Nicholas Ahlm, Michael Haarstad, Robert Haarstad, Cullen Finnell.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Harvey’s Grandchildren: Holly Janni, Corrinne Brong, Jon Behrenbrinker, Jennifer Mueller, Aaron Finnell, Darian Behrenbrinker, Braden Behrenbrinker.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in his memory to St. Francis Xavier Church Preservation Fund.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo is serving the family.

    We are sorry to hear of Harvey’s death, and have lots of memories of the NFO days, and his involvement. He always made sure that everything was done right, in all that he did.
