March 22, 1934 – September 2, 2019

Harry Frank Kalinowski, formerly of Greenbush, Minnesota, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was born March 22, 1934, the son of the late Frank and Verna (Jane Johnson) Kalinowski.

Harry was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush, Minnesota and graduated from Greenbush High School.

Growing up, Harry lived on the family farm, helping with all the chores and fieldwork. Harry spent several harvest falls picking potatoes around the Karlstad area, and later worked for a farmer in North Dakota. While working in North Dakota, Harry met, Darlene G. Dafault. The two were later married on July 27, 1955 in Grafton and they were blessed with two children, Mary Jo and Harry Frank Kalinowski Jr. They made their home in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Harry worked as a trucker. Later, they moved to California where Harry worked at Steelcase, and on the weekends worked for Mobil Gas Station in Buena Park, California. The family later made their home in Bellflower, California where Harry worked 7 days a week to save up enough money to start his own business. In 1967, Harry made that dream come true and he purchased Seal Beach Auto Parts in Seal Beach, California. It was known as the longest running business in Seal Beach when Harry retired and closed the doors in 1987. In 1977, Harry lost his first wife, Darlene Kalinowski, who had been ill for many years.

Harry enjoyed country western music and polka. He always enjoyed to dance, so if there was a good polka band in town, more than likely one could see Harry there enjoying the music and dancing. He also joined a polka club, where he met his second wife, Adeline Schuster “Addy”. Harry and Adeline loved each other very much, and he was very fond of her sons, Myron and David; and her brother, Edgar (Maxine) Collette. Dancing brought them all together with many friends, and the opportunity to meet new friends. Harry’s second passion was fishing. When he retired, he spent six months out of the year back in Minnesota with his kids fishing for walleye. When Harry wasn’t found fishing, Harry and Addy would be found dancing and living the good life. Harry lost his second wife, Adeline Kalinowski, in 2011.

In 2017, Harry suffered a stroke while fishing in Canada and was not able to live alone anymore, so he moved to Buffalo, Minnesota to live with his daughter. After more intense health issues, Harry moved to Park View Care Center in Buffalo for the last year of his life.

Harry is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Jo Snare; son-in-law, Noel Snare; grandchildren Dustin Dean Snare, Harry Kalinowski “Jay”, Cassandra Kalinowski, Selena Kalinowski; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Naomi, Charlize, Clementine, Anella Rose; sister, Delores Taus; brother, Ralph Kalinowski; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Verna Kalinowski; siblings, Alice, Betty, Barbara, Lorraine, Jonathan; first wife, Darlene; second wife, Adeline; son, Harry Frank Kalinowski Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Snare, Brandon Snare, Jonathan Kalinowski; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial for Harry will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush, MN with burial to follow at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery.
