Nelson, Gwen L., age 72, of Plymouth, formerly of St. Louis Park, passed away surrounded by her family at home May 1, 2011.

Born in Omaha, NE to Grant and Irma Leek. Moved to Pelican Rapids in 1956 and graduated from P.R.H.S. in 1957. She married Donovan Nelson in 1958. Moved to Fargo, ND and had 3 children. Then moved to St. Louis Park in 1963. Gwen worked for the American Red Cross for 14 years. After leaving the Red Cross, Gwen was a caregiver to many. Extremely generous with her time and efforts to anyone in need. Loyal friend, loving mother and grandmother. VFW Ladies Auxiliary member since 1966. Devoted Twins fan.

Survived by children, Lori Knuti, Brenda Nelson (Tom Sundby) and Steve (Su) Nelson; grandchildren, Kelli Guck, Emilee Nelson, Grace Nelson, Derek Knuti, Matt Guck and Jenni Guck; sister, Glee Cantalibre; many other family and friends.

A Celebration of life was held at 3 PM Saturday, May 7 at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main St., St. Michael (763-497-5362). Food and fellowship following service at Albertville City Hall, 5975 Main Ave. NE., Albertville. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

    I am so sorry to see the news of your Mother passing away. I was missing my own Mom today and, for some reason, thought of you.

    So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. Gwen was always fun to be around and I am glad I had the chance to know her.
