Grace H. Rassat, age 88, of rural Waverly passed away on Friday, January 14th, 2011 at The Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.

She was born on May 4, 1922 in Maple Lake the daughter of Martin & Hazel (McAlpine) Wurm.

On May 12, 1943, Grace Wurm and Leo Rassat were joined in holy marriage at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake.

In November of 1943, Grace and Leo moved to a farm in Marysville Township, Wright County.

She enjoyed living on the farm, nature, canning, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed visits with her children and grandchildren. Grace also liked to play cards and loved to dance.

She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Mary in Waverly and belonged to The Council of Catholic Women.

Survived by her loving children: Tom Rassat of Buffalo, Kay (Gary) Manteuffel of Elk River, Mary Rassat of Monticello, Lloyd (Barb) Rassat of Buffalo, John (Karen) Rassat of Waverly, Greg (Lisa) Rassat of Maple Lake, Tim (Vonnie) Rassat of Winsted and David Rassat of Minneapolis; fourteen grandchildren: Charlie, Sam & Josie Rassat; Megan & Tom Manteuffel; Jared & Brian Rassat; Travis & Becky Rassat; Dan, Abby and Aaron Rassat; Tim Rassat Jr. and Sheila (Rassat) Moeller; eight great grandchildren: Nadia, Paige, Zachary, Hannah, Katelyn, Evan, Natalie & Mia; sisters and a brother: Sr. Betty, Maxine (Leonard) Schaust, Eloise (Richard) Smith, Hazel (Allen) Decker, Jim (Marlene) Wurm and Arlene (Wayne) Jude; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Marie Wurm, Ann (Wurm) Cruikshank, Margaret Wurm, Marvin (Grace) Rasset and Evelyn Rasset; many nieces, nephews,other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Leo Rassat, three infants: Joan, Mark and Michael Rassat, her parents: Martin & Hazel Wurm, a grandson: Patrick Rassat, sisters and brothers: Agnes (Slyvester) Piram, Tom Wurm, Roy Wurm, Tim Wurm and Mary (Bill) Jandro.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace Rassat will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 10:30 A.M. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier will be the Celebrant.

Interment St. Timothy Cemetery in Maple Lake.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th from 4-8 P.M. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.

Casket Beaerers will be her sons: Tom, Lloyd, John, Greg, Tim and David Rassat.

    Wish we could be there to personally give all of you our deepest sympathy. It’s hard to lose a parent, especially when we’re the eldest generation. Sending our thoughts & prayers to all of you.
