Gordon Ralph Jobes passed away at Essentia Health in Fosston, MN under the caring hands of the doctors and nurses at the age of 91 years after a struggle with congestive heart failure.
He was the son of James and Josephine (Parker) Jobes.
Gordy grew up in Osseo with his parents and one sister, Dorothy. He attended Osseo school and graduated in 1942.
Gordy enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was united in marriage to Erma Lorraine (Klatt) at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Corcoran on September 22, 1945. They raised four children and watched many grandchildren grow and become parents of their own. They lived in Corcoran for 59 years. They then moved to Poplar Meadows Assisted Living in McIntosh, MN to be close to their daughter.
Gordy hauled milk, livestock and grain as a young man to provide for his family. He was a hard worker and always had a kind word to say about everyone. He was full of one-liners and quick remarks that turned everyone’s hearts to him. He made friends with all he came in contact with from the mailman to the receptionist to the doctor’s, aides, EMT’s, medical drivers, etc.
Gordy was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, spending time at Denny’s lake home, being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially drinking coffee, playing cards and visiting.
Survived by sons Larry (Carol) Jobes and Dennis Jobes; daughter Nancy (Jeff) Francis; grandchildren Jonathan Jobes, Jenny (Jeff) Holovnia, Rachel (Michael) Johnson, Casey (Joe) Pierce and Shelly (Dustin) Kalt; great-grandchildren Kaden Joseph, Dalton Larry, Weston Michael, Ariana Lee, Miela Marie, Leo David, Adelyn Carol, Knox Dustin and two babies on their way; many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife Erma, his parents, a son David R. Jobes, and a sister Dorothy Kampa.
A Memorial Service for Gordon Jobes will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11 AM at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 10025 County Road 101, Corcoran. A time of gathering for friends and family will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at Weaver Lake Cemetery.
A further Memorial Service will be held at Poplar Meadows, McIntosh, MN at a later date.
The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville, MN assisted the family with arrangements.
God bless you. It was an honor to spend time with you at the hospital.
We are so sorry to lose Gordon and are praying for his family. We loved Gordon very much and appreciated the joy he brought to us.
Larry, Denny, Nancy & family,
So sorry I can’t make it to your Dads funeral. Unfortunately, I’m in charge of the Oliver tractor exhibit @ the Wright County Fair and our set up time is the same time as Gordy’s funeral. Many great memories of Gordy coming to our farm every other morning to pick up the milk. He was a great guy and you should be proud of him. He will be missed. Sincere Sympathy to you & yours. Luke and Mary Ellen Cain
