Gordon “Gordy” Joseph Zumbusch, age 89, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 in Buffalo.

Gordy was born on October 23, 1925 to Joseph and Florence Zumbusch. He graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in WWII Veteran.

He married Muriel Forsythe on September 23, 1950 and they made their home in Buffalo where Gordy worked for the U.S. Post Office.

Gordy was a kind and caring man. He loved spending time outside walking, gardening and fishing. He was an avid reader, enjoyed doing his daily crossword puzzle, was a skilled wood worker & craftsman, and loved to watch football.

He was an active member of the American Legion for over 60 years.

He will be missed by all who knew him!

Gordy is survived by sisters Joyce Painschab of Waverly, MN & Marcella Borrell of Mahtomedi, MN, niece Angie (J) McClelland and great nieces Eva & Anna McClelland of Maple Lake, MN, many nieces and nephews, and other loving family members & friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Zumbusch, parents Joseph and Florence Zumbusch, brother, Douglas Zumbusch and sister, Mildred Dalbec.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Gordy & Muriel Zumbusch’s name can be sent to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Buffalo, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo with visitation prior to service beginning at 9 AM.

Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, rural Maple Lake, MN.

Casket Bearers will be Aaron Forsythe, Ken Dalbec, Steve Zumbusch, Rick Hage, Mike Painschab and Gary Borrell.

    I had the pleasure of being with Gordy on the Buffalo American Legion Honor Guard. We have missed him the last few years. At least we would see Gordy now and then. Gordy, we will miss you.
