Gordon John Novotny, age 89 of Buffalo, MN, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was born the son of John & Josephine Novotny on October 22, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN
While at a Halloween Party in 1952, Gordon met his sweetheart, Lois. Lois and Gordon were united in marriage at Lois’ childhood home in South Minneapolis on May 19, 1956. After being married, the two lived in various cities in the Metro before making their home in Montrose in 1975 where together they raised their nine children.
Gordon had a big heart for his family, friends and animals. He enjoyed his plants, animals -especially squirrels & raccoons and raising chow chows. Gordon especially loved watching football and the news.
He is preceded in death by her parents, John & Josephine Novotny; wife, Lois Asplund Novotny; sister, Josephine (Ron) Novotny; sons-in-law, Tony Jensen & Michael Kuehn; daughter-in-law, Jill Novotny and grandson, Matthew
Gordon will be missed children, Cindy (Sandy) Hoekstra, Jean Jensen, Gordy (Carol) Novotny, Carolyn Kuehn, John (Mary Grace) Novotny, Linda Novotny, Mark Novotny and Lisa Novotny; grandchildren, Gordy (Kathy), Keith (Susie), Josh, Angela, Jessica, Skylar, Owen, Emily, Devin, Micah; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lisa, Passion, Decari, Rayshaun, Dale, Valery; beloved pets, Lucy and Lucky; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
