Gordon Francis Marquette, age 76 of Buffalo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, May 28, 2018. Gordy was born on July 10, 1941 in Buffalo, the son of Claude and Esther (Blake) Marquette.

Gordon was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. He attended Rasset School and farmed his whole life on a 5th generation farm, farming dairy cows and crops.

Gordy was on the Lake Region Board of Directors for 15 years and worked road maintenance for Chatham Township for 19 years. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bird watching, bowling, playing cards, playing on horseshoe leagues, going to the casino, driving around, visiting with people, and time spent with his family and friends.

On June 24, 1961, Gordon Marquette and Shirley Czech were united in marriage at St. Mary’s of Czestochowa in Watertown, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Esther Marquette; parents-in-law, Valentine and Anne Czech; siblings, Shirley Fouquette, Lauren Marquette; and siblings-in-law, Al LePage, Marlin Tonsberg, Frank Fouquette, Paul Christiansen.

Gordy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Marquette; children, David Marquette, Dianne (Dan) Mosley, Valerie (Rick) Botzet, Timothy (Jana) Marquette, Kevin (Peggy) Marquette, Lawrence Marquette (special friend, Jon Fritz); grandchildren, Jessica Mosley (special friend, Mike Weiers), Justin (Britt) Mosley, Anna Botzet (special friend, Marshal Kniffen), Ellie Botzet, Claudia Botzet, Gerald Marquette, Olivia Marquette, Alexander Marquette, Zachary Marquette, Samuel Marquette; great-granddaughter, Milly Mosley; siblings, Berneal (Jerome) Decker, Marcella LePage, Mary (Robert T.) Wurm, Roger (Mary) Marquette, Jody (Ron) Rassat; siblings-in-law, Ginny Marquette, Delores Tonsberg, Barbara (Don) Berens, Sandra (Bruce) Ostenson, Linda Czech, Rita Christiansen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Nathaniel Meyers as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Buffalo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the church restoration project at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.
