Glenn M. Mills, age 73, of Waverly died Monday, September 29th 2008 at The Buffalo Hospital.
Glenn was born in Luzerne, Iowa on April 29, 1935 the son of Robert & Christena Knoke Mills.
He graduated from High School in 1953 in Keystone, Iowa.
On April 7, 1957, Glenn M. Mills & Ruth E. Paulsen were joined in holy marriage at Scotch Grove, Iowa.
They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving to Waverly where Glenn drove ice cream truck for forty years. He and Ruth also owned and operated The Lakeshore Motel on Waverly Lake.
Glenn was a member of The Teamsters Union and was a former Boy Scout Leader.
In more recent years, he and Ruth enjoyed their winters in Texas.
Glenn was faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
Survived by loving wife: Ruth E. Mills; children: Randy (Becky) Mills of Waverly, Ron Mills of Winsted, Janet (David) Whelan of Pasadena, TX, Judy (Dean) Engel of Norfolk, VA and Jenny (Jason) Helmbrecht of Howard Lake; twelve grandchildren, three step grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother: Dennis (Donna) Mills of Tama, IA; many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by a daughter: Debra Sue Mills, parents: Robert & Christena Mills, father & mother-in-law: Mr. & Mrs. Paul Paulsen, 2 sisters: Joyce Peck, Naomi Wieck and husband Ernest Wieck and by a brother-in-law: Paul E. Paulsen.
A Memorial Service for Glenn Mills was held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 3rd at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Pastor Martin T. Schoenfeld officiated. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly.
Nancy Butterfass was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were “Just a Closer Walk with Thee”, “On Eagles’ Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”.
Thinking of you with our deepest sympathy at this time of Glenn’s death. It was good to see and remember him at the class reunion in September. Rich and Norma Silhanek, Keystone, Iowa.
