Gladys Emma Anna Kowalke, age 95, of Buffalo, MN passed away on September 22, 2013 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born in Balfour, ND on March 3, 1918 the daughter of Carl (Charley) and Louise Bertha (Zastrow) Behner.
Gladys Behner and Harold T. Kowalke were united in marriage in 1938 and were blessed with four children.
She and Harold farmed for many decades in Franklin Township. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the QQ Club, and the VFW Auxiliary # 1901. Gladys enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, studying genealogy, reading, writing, and listening to music. Gladys was also active as a volunteer in the community as a tutor, historical society participant, and many other organizations too numerous to mention. Gladys was known in her family for her quick wit and unique tongue twisting chuckle.
She is survived by her children Patricia Louise Robertson of Watkins, MN, Constance Rae (James) Robertson of Jacksonville, FL, Charity Grace Brand of North Mpls, MN and Timothy (Barbara) Kowalke of Montrose, MN, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded death by her parents, her husband, brother Marvin Behner and son-in-law Bill Robertson.
A Memorial Service for Gladys Kowalke will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
