May 6, 1956 – July 24, 2021

Gerry Lee Barthel, age 65, of St. Michael passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at The U of M Hospital.

He was born on May 6, 1956 in Buffalo, the son of Bernard A. & Irene M. (Meister) Barthel.

He was a longtime dairy farmer near St. Michael and milked Brown Swiss cattle.  Gerry later was employed as a machinist at B & D Machines in Buffalo.

He belonged to The Crow River Lions Club.

Survived by his sisters and a brother: Lynette (Rick) Deziel, Benita (Jim) Oliver, Gordy Barthel, Theresa (Mike) Treptau, Michele (Dan) Pawelk, Charlene (Gerard) Willette, Lisa (Kenny) Daluge and Pam (Mike) Vetsch; many nieces & nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ben, sisters-in-law Carole and Terri Barthel and by a nephew Tyler Pawelk.

A time of gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 28th from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.

At 6:00 P.M. the family will share memories to celebrate Gerry’s life.

Interment Hanover Village Cemetery following the gathering.
