Visitation Information

Geraldine “Gerry” Winchester Pabst, age 90, of Monticello and formerly of Burlington, Wisconsin, died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at St Benedict’s Senior Community Center.

Geraldine Isabelle was born on November 6, 1918 in Atlantic, Iowa to Harley and Lizzie (nee Strater) Winchester. She was united in marriage to Ralph Pabst and they were blessed with two children, Linda and Sharon. Gerry worked as an administrative secretary for Burlington Hospital in Burlington, Wisconsin for 27 years. She enjoyed her work very much (including the doctors’ comments that the hospital couldn’t run without her). After her retirement and the 1989 death of her husband, Gerry began volunteering at the hospital in various capacities including working at the gift shop, acting as president for the volunteer auxiliary, and heading the WE Care pre and post-operation program. She logged over 7,000 hours of volunteering and was awarded a pin for her faithful service. She was also on the board of directors of the Burlington Area Tour of Homes. Gerry enjoyed traveling with friends and time spent with her daughter Sharon and son-in-law Ken McKenna who were living in Illinois. In the spring of 2004, she moved to St Benedict’s Senior Center in Monticello and was able to enjoy time with her daughter Linda and son-in-law Ralph Rattray who lived in the area. While there, she enjoyed participating in the St Benedict Bible study group. She attended worship services at St Benedict as well as St Henry’s Catholic Church in Monticello and St Michael Catholic Church in St Michael. She was very proud of her daughters and their families and will be missed very much by them all.

Gerry is survived by daughters: Linda Rattray, St Michael, and Sharon “Sherri” (Ken) McKenna, Crystal Lake, Illinois; brother, Harley Winchester Jr., Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Mike, Mark, Toni, and Dawn; great grandchildren: Austin, Hunter, and Jessica; and a few nieces and nephews including: : Janet, Donna, and Duane (Kay) Winston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lizzie and Harley Sr.; husband, Ralph; son-in-law, Ralph Rattray; brother, Gene Winchester; and sister, Lucille Winston.

The funeral service for Gerry Pabst will be Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Peterson Chapel – St Michael/Albertville Funeral Home with visitation from 4-8 that evening. On Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. there will be an informal committal service at the St George Cemetery in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

I WAS FORTUNATE TO WORK W/GERRY FROM 1965 TO 1975. I ASSISTED HER ON A PART TIME BASIS W/ ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS. SHE WAS A VERY RARE INDIVIDUAL. IN OUR TIME WORKING TOGETHER WE WERE EMPATHETIC “BUDDIES”. I WAS ENDURING CHAOS ON A PERSONAL LEVEL IN MY LIFE & SHE HAD A “GREAT” EAR & UNBRIDLED SUPPORT. SPENT FUN TIMES @ LILY LAKE & MY CHILDREN & I ENJOYED THE GENERATIONS OF CORKIES! MAY SHE TAKE HER PLACE IN HEAVEN. GOD BLESS.
