Geraldine A. “Geri” Leerssen, age 91, of Sedalia, Missouri and formerly of Buffalo went to live with her Savior in heaven on April 16th, 2011.

She was born on November 29, 1919 in Montrose the daughter of Harry & Ruby Kreidler Walker.

On April 9, 1938, Geraldine A. Walker & Raymond W. Leerssen were joined in holy marriage in Montrose. God blessed their marriage with three sons. Geri and Ray engaged in dairy farming for many years in Rockford Township. Ray preceded his wife in death on October 25, 1993.

She was a former faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake. She taught Sunday School there and was a member of the ladies aid.

She moved to Sedalia, MO in September of 1997.

She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Through the years, and while a resident of Buffalo, Geri was active in The Federated Women’s Club, Christian Women and The Auxiliary of Buffalo Hospital. She worked in downtown Buffalo for many years at Burkland’s and later at Setterberg Jewelers.

Survived by loving sons: The Reverend William T. (Rosemary) Leerssen of Platteville, Colorado, Wayne W. (Sharon) Leerssen of Mountain Center, California and Douglas (Martha) Leerssen of Sedalia, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister: Vivian Cook of Saint George, Utah; a brother: Terry (Babe) Walker of Buffalo; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Geri was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents and five siblings: Ethelyn, Arlyn, Delores, Stanley “Bud” and Shirley.

Funeral Service for Geraldine “Geri” Leerssen will be held on Friday, April 22nd with visitation at 1PM and funeral services at 2PM at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake. The Reverend Stephen A. Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
