Gerald “Jerry” L. Lehn

Age 61 of St. Michael, died peacefully Thursday, September 25, 2008 in Wayne City, Illinois while away on behalf of Cargill.

Gerald was born in Monticello Township on February 9, 1947 to Elmer F. and Eveline L. (Kersting) Lehn. A graduate of St. Michael High School, Jerry entered the U.S. Army on March 16, 1966. He served until February 24, 1968 including one year in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Gerald studied at Hennepin Community College. On October 1, 1966 Jerry married Joan Irish. They later divorced. He worked as a commercial driver for various companies before owning and operating Wright County Bag Company which he continued to the present, although on a smaller scale. He was currently working as an interstate driver for Cargill. On December 28, 1995 Jerry married Celeste Muyres. Jerry enjoyed hunting and he loved to fish. He competed in many tournaments. He has an extensive collection of trophy fish and some of the game which he hunted. He enjoyed restoring and rebuilding old cars. In his younger years, he was a trophy winning pool player and bowler.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Celeste, St. Michael; mother, Eveline Lehn, St. Michael; son, Jeffrey (Christy) Lehn; daughters: Lisa (Tom) Hageman, and Lori (Ross) LeVasseur, all of Monticello; step-son Maj. Jeffery (Jenny) Bouma, Clarksville, TN; siblings: Margie Grabinger, Northfield, Rosalie Anselment, Albertville, Henry “Hank” (Nancy) Lehn, Monticello, Jim (Sue) Lehn, Elk River, Elmer “Lanny” Lehn, Bloomington, Jeannie (Jim) Kramer, Parrish, FL, Jeanette Mock, Brooklyn Park, Mary Lou (Wayne) Kolles, Albertville, Linda (Ed) Hall, New Hope, Ramona (Gerald) Martin, Albertville, and Sheila (Dennis Porter) Lehn, St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren: Scott (Katie) Veal, Jeremy Lehn, Jacob Lehn, Kyle Gamblin, Collin LeVasseur, Paige LeVasseur, Spencer LeVasseur, Tristen Hageman, Austin Hageman, Levi Lehn, and Allysa Hamann; step-grandchildren: Morgan Bouma, and Landen Bouma; mother-in-law Sofia Muyres, Hillman; brothers-in-law: Blaine Muyres, Minneapolis, and Keith (Julene) Muyres, St. Cloud; sister-in-law, Candice (Charles) Stuber, Maple Grove; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer; son, Jerry Jr.; father-in-law, Arnold Muyres; and brothers-in-law: Terry Anselment, and Wallace Grabinger.

The Funeral Mass for Jerry was held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the St. Michael Catholic Church where Father Gregory Abbott was the Celebrant. Casket Bearers were: Jeremy Martin, Dan Kolles, Randy Kolles, Shane Martin, Dave Barthel, and Josa Martin.
Visitation was Sunday at The Peterson Chapel – St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home from 3-7 P.M. with a 6:00 prayer service. The visitation resumed at church one hour before the funeral. The burial was at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
