Visitation Information

Geneva Emma Engelsmeier, 83, of Rockford died peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, July 16, 2007 in Buffalo.

In Wykoff, Minnesota Alwin and Gertrude (Lottes) Schneider welcomed Geneva Emma into the world on May 16th, 1924. She was baptized by Reverend A. Ude on June 15th, 1924. Later she was confirmed on May 27th, 1937 by Reverend Ude at St. John™s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wykoff. Her conformational bible verse was, ˜I am the vine, ye are the branches; he that abideth in Me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.™ Geneva united in marriage to Norman F. Engelsmeier on November 9th, 1946 by Reverend A. F. Mock at St. John™s Evangelical Lutheran Church. They lived in Brownton and Green Isle before moving to Rockford in 1949. She was a long time employee of the Rockford State Bank. Geneva was a member of the Cross L.I.G.H.T. ladies group, choir, American Legion Auxiliary (Crow Valley Unity 628), and the Rockford Senior Citizens Club. She has volunteered at Wise Penny Thrift Shoppe in Buffalo and the local Red Cross Blood Mobile.

Geneva is preceded in death by her parents: Alwin and Gertrude Schneider; husband: Norman; and brother: Loren.

She is survived by son: David (Lois) Engelsmeier of Shell Knob, MO; grandson: Daniel Engelsmeier of Dallas, TX; sister: Lorna Talmo of Rochester; sister-in-law: Marian Schneider of Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Visitation for Geneva was Thursday, July 19th, 2007 from 4 to 8 pm at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rockford.

Funeral Service will be Friday, July 20th, 2007 at 2 pm at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rockford with a 1 hour visitation prior to the start of the service. Pastor Michael Barlow served the family.

Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery of Rockford.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages friends and family to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
