Visitation Information

Eugene ˜Gene™ Harlan Liebhard (pronounced Lee-Bard), age 58, of Buffalo died suddenly of heart complications at his cabin in South Haven, Monday, July 2nd, 2007.

On May 25th, 1949, Harlan and Arvilla (Mechtal) Liebhard welcomed Gene Harlan Liebhard into the world in Shakopee, Minnesota. Gene married Layna Sullivan on January 19, 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and were blessed with two children. He started Summit Precision in 1995. Gene loved his cabin in South Haven, taking his 6 plus mile walks along the lake, feeding the deer, and fishing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed visits from family and friends at the shop and his cabin so he could show off his equipment and toys. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, gardening at home and corny internet jokes. He will be remembered by many kids who he enjoyed coaching in baseball and softball. He was very dedicated to his kids™ sports and activities, and would never hesitate to drive across the country to be there. Gene will be remembered as a likeable, generous, light spirited, hard working man.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents: Harlan and Arvilla Liebhard and special Mother and Father-in-law Helen and Donald Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife: Layna; son: Jerry (Kindra) Liebhard of Annandale; daughter: Sheri (Cody) Jarman of Maple Lake; grandchildren: Anna, Jacob, a baby on the way, Kiera, Blake, and Isaak; 8 brothers and sisters; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Visitation was Thursday, July 5th, 2007 from 5 to 8pm at The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, July 6th, 2007 at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a 1 hour visitation prior to the start of mass.

Casket Bearers were Larry Johnson, Rob Hughes, Gary O™Day, Chad Schleif, Tom Marr, and Bruce Otten.

Interment was at St. Ignastius Catholic Cemetery.

    I lost my father alomst a year to the date…and there is nothing harder to try to celebrate a time of independace without thiking of the ones who are not with us. I love you. God bless!

    What the hell! I missed you on the lake for the fireworks display. Thanks for the heads up though. I’m still not sure what to do with the excess paper bags?! I guess “we’ll see once”! Thanks for the friendship. Keep an eye on things. Later.
