of Albertville, MN

July 14, 1973 – April 3, 2024

Garrett Layne Isaacson, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2024.  He will be remembered for his unique humor, bad jokes, and his passion for work and play.

He was born July 14, 1973, in Litchfield MN, the youngest son of Duane and Bette (Johnson) Isaacson. He moved around while growing up but spent his teen years in the Annandale area. He was on the golf team, held many school records and went to State in golf, his senior year. He graduated in 1991.

He met the love of his life, Gwyn in Math class. They were always in trouble for telling jokes. A few years after graduation they met again and never left each other’s side. Garrett and Gwyn Baazard were married June 5, 1998, at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. They were blessed with a daughter Solie Emma on April 3, 2001.

Garrett’s family was the center of his life. They worked together, golfed, bowled and fished together. Adding his wife and daughter along the way.

Garrett was a true Finnish carpenter all his life. He started his career at Isaacson and Son’s upon graduation. His dad and brothers taught him the trade. A long the way he mastered the craft with the help of other great men. His fear of heights didn’t stop him from his expertise at crown molding and decorative wood ceilings. He also loved building beautiful pieces of furniture for friends and family.

His love of golf began at a very young age, playing with his dad and brothers. As a teen he worked at Whispering Pines picking range ball and moving holes on the greens. Then spent the rest of the day playing the course. He did set the 9-hole course record with a 29. Because of this love he played over 200 different courses, collecting score cards and ball markers from each. With as much as he played, he never got a Hole in One, but Gwyn did.

He loved fishing whether in a boat or on the ice, this allowed him to enjoy peace and quiet.

He also loved to bowl. He bowled on many leagues starting at a young age. He brought home many trophies and titles, but only managed a 298 score. He loved being one of the coaches for Solie’s High School team.

Garrett is survived by wife Gwyn, daughter Solie of Albertville. Brothers Kim (Deb) of Remer, Scott (Pam) of Outing, Ryan (Lisa) of Elk River, sister DeeAnn Isaacson of Litchfield, sister-in-law Tammy Piatte of Billings MT.

He was preceded in death by his brother Shayne and parents Duane and Bette.

Very sorry to learn of this. Garrett was a great guy, and extremely gifted bowler and golfer. I recall how humble he was when he would set a new course record, or win a tournament.
