Fred Raymond Kasper, age 79 of Big Lake, MN passed away at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, MN on Thursday, March 3, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial for Fred Kasper will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Albert’s Catholic Church, Albertville, MN. Interment St. Albert’s Cemetery, Albertville, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM on Thursday, March 10th also at the church. Further visitation will be held on Friday morning, March 11th one hour prior to Mass at the church. Casket Bearers will be his grandchildren Mike Wacker, Dan Wacker, Jolene Berning, Cory Berning, Jake Zych and Jamie Zych.
Fred was born on January 7, 1937 to Raymond and Regina (Barthel) Kasper in St. Michael, MN. He married Frances Baker on September 3, 1960 at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, MN. Their marriage was blessed with four children. He worked as an iron worker for many years. He owned and operated K & L Steel, retiring in 1992. Fred loved deer hunting and going to the hunting shack. He enjoyed spending time at the lake cabin with family and friends and working on his hobby farm in Otsego, MN. He and Fran traveled to many of the states in their motorhome. Fred enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Regina, wife, Frances, brothers, Mervin and Norman, sister, Ione Zachman.
Survived by his children, Jon (Donna) Kasper, Jacci (Rick) Wacker, Julie (Chas) Berning, Jane (Todd) Zych; grandchildren, Mike and Dan Wacker, Jolene and Cory Berning, Jake and Jamie Zych; great-grandchildren, Beckett, Ellie and Wyatt; brothers, Bernie Kasper, Joe (Donna) Kasper; sisters, Darlene (Bill) Cardinal, Diane (Joe) Scherber, Betty (Bruce) Dexter, Kathy (Ken) Duerr.

    I enjoyed many moments at your family farm. From butchering chickens to making pies. You will be missed Uncle Freddy. Say hi to my Dad for me.
