Fred was born on January 10, 1947 in Jackson, MN. He was the youngest child of Erich and Evelyn Fritschel. He loved sports and participated in track, wrestling and his favorite, football. He attended college at Mankato State University and Iowa State University (where his granddaughter, Abby will attend in the fall). He worked in civil engineering and an X-ray sales, continuing to work as a civil engineer during the summers at John Oliver and Associates after retirement. Fred and Shirley were married on December 4, 1971. He had three sons, Eric (Kristin), Michael (deceased) and Scott. Fred has three beautiful granddaughters, Abby (18), Shayna (13) and Maya (9). Family was very important to Fred. He loved spending time with his sister, Sharrie, sister-in-law, Wanda, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred loved being a part of his sons’ sports and activities, where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed swimming and suntanning in his pool, entertaining, barbecuing and cooking with his wife. He enjoyed music, finding and using the best technologies and making people laugh with his many jokes. He loved the ocean and the desert. His main hobby after family was the Vikings! Many family members learned not to schedule an event during a Vikings game.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to The Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Fred will live on in our hearts forever

I knew and worked with Fred for many decades and he was always a pleasure to be with and work with. A very positive fun person and solid friend. We will miss him.
I worked with Fred for about 10yrs. He was a very smart and got along with everyone. He will be missed by everyone that crossed his path. Sorry for the Fritschel family.

Fred was always such a joy to be around, every ready smiles and always a joke or witty comment. We have lots of fond memories with events surrounding the boys and all of their activities and with being neighbors for many years. You all have my deepest sympathies in your loss.

I remember Fred as a very special friend from 55 years ago when he lived in Jackson. He was well thought of in the community. I had a very nice conversation with him in Jackson in 2016. My prayers go out to his family.
