Visitation Information
Fred Howard Kjos, age 70, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of the Twin Cities, passed from this life on October 9, 2010 due to complications of PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a rare neurological disorder. The Lord in his infinite mercy rescued him from the debilitation of PSP and he is forever sheltered in His arms.
He is survived by Faye, his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 49 years; 3 children, Brad (spouse Diane Kramer) of St. Louis Park, Stephanie (spouse Greg) Effertz of Bloomington, Brady (spouse Abby) Kjos of Blaine; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Hanley Wiig of Columbia Heights, Colleen (spouse Bruce) Peterson of Brooten, and Carl (spouse Barbara Jean) Kjos of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born May 17, 1940 to the union of Arnold and Esther (Medalen) Kjos and graduated from Brooten High School in 1958. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead and received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Minnesota. He taught English for a number of years and retired from Hennepin County Financial Services in 2000 after 25 years of service.
He and Faye enjoyed extensive travel together and with family. They spent 8 years in their home in Green Valley that he so dearly loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on, Saturday, October 16 with visitation starting at 10:30am at the Peterson Chapel in downtown Buffalo, MN
