Visitation Information

Francis Fran Olson, age 89 of St. Michael, died peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Parkview Heath Care Center in Buffalo.

Francis Oscar was born on January 9, 1919 in Minneapolis to Francis Oscar and Selma (nee Larson) Olson, Sr. On 1966 he was united in marriage to Leora Lee Steckler in Rapid City, South Dakota. He studied at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and much later became an instructor there, teaching printing. Fran worked in print shops until he was in his 30™s when he opened his own printing and advertisement firm, Addressing and Mailing Inc. He belonged to the printer™s union. Fran had many interests; he held a pilot™s license, enjoyed travel, and won trophies in amateur golf tournaments. In his youth, Fran enjoyed boxing. He spent many years working for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. For one year Fran was the president of the Travelers Country Club in Clear Lake and served on its board of directors for a total of five years. For fourteen years, he and his wife, Lee traveled around the United States, working as consultants to Travel Life Enterprise in issuing their publication, Campground Trailer Life RV Parks Guide. Fran and Lee wintered in Texas for about ten years. While there, Fran organized non-denominational church services at the Plantation Country Club in Pharr, Texas.

Francis Olson is survived by his wife, Lee, St. Michael; sons: Frank (Lynne) Olson, Savage, and Craig Scott (Naneth) Olson, Brooklyn Park; daughters: Judi (Jerry) Andresen, Brooklyn Park, and Debra Olson, Annandale; step-sons: Jay (Judy) Brossard, Colville, Washington, and Jim Brossard, Minnetonka; brothers-in-law: Jim (Sandra) Steckler, Houston, Texas, and Jerry (Donna) Steckler, Yankton, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son; step-grandson; one brother; and two sisters.

Memorial Services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Peterson Chapel “ St. Michael/Albertville with an hour of visitation before the funeral.

Burial is at a later date at Eden Lake Cemetery, Eden Valley.
Memorials are preferred.
