Fern Ordorff age 83 of Buffalo, MN passed away on February 24, 2014 at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, MN.
Funeral service on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake.
Visitation on Friday, February 28th from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN & one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Interment Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Pelican Lake.
Casket bearers will be Ryan Hughes, Derrick Kienholz, Nicholas Ordorff, Joshua Ordorff, Jacob Kienholz, Brandon Ordorff, Dylon Sherwin, and Trevor Sherwin.
Fern was born on December 23, 1930 in Rockford Township, Wright County, MN to Ernest & Sadie Schlief. Fern’s mother died in childbirth & she was raised by Sadie’s sister, Rose & her husband Irving Johnson of Minneapolis, MN. Fern was baptized on January 4, 1931 & confirmed on April 2, 1944 in the Christian faith. Fern married Jerome Ordorff on August 6, 1949. The city girl then moved to the country to raise 5 children on the farm. Fern later started working as a cook at the Buffalo Hospital for over 25 years. She was involved with the Ladies Aid group at church. She enjoyed volunteering at Wise Penny, taking care of her flowers, feeding the birds, making holiday cupcakes for her family & going to fish fry’s.
Preceded in death by her husband Jerome, her parents, step-mother, Florence Schlief, brother, Harold Johnson, & several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.
Fern is survived by her children, Pam (Mike) Mensinger, Alise (Marvin) Zachman, Cheryl (Jeff) Kienholz, Mark (Debbie) Ordorff & Darcy (Tom) Sherwin; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings, Luverne(Erich) Oemeke, Janice Amundsen, Leonard (Judy) Schlief, Teresa Ordorff, Sharon (Rick) Veches, Debbie (Mark) Butman; sisters-in-law, Ann Johnson & Myrtle Bonk; brother-in-law, Ralph Ordorff.
