Eva. G. (Gehman) Landes, age 95, of Elk River, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2011 at New River Nursing Home in Monticello, Minnesota.

She was born on November 28, 1915 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania the daughter of Linc & Hannah (Souder) Gehman.

On March 27, 1937. Eva G. Gehman and Mark N. Landes were joined in holy marriage in Souderton, Pennsylvania. Eva and her late husband, Mark, started married life in Pennsylvania where they had a dairy farm, later moving the family to Cass Lake, Minnesota to work with The Native Americans with the local Mennonite Church. Their whole life revolved around ministry and traveling and their hospitality in their small farmhouse was amazing-Eva cooked thousands of meals from their huge gardens; she also enjoyed her flower gardens, sewing and crocheting, reading and entertaining her grandkids. In her later years, she crocheted hundreds of caps and mittens for
the homeless.

Eva will be missed by all.

Survived by her children: Gerald G. (Judy) Landes of Phoenix, Arizona; David G. (Sherry) Landes of East Bethel, Minnesota; James Mark (Mary) Landes of Bemidji, Minnesota; Jay Marlin Landes of Bemidji, Minnesota and Joy Marie (Greg) Maher of Otsego, Minnesota; grandchildren: Heather, Hydee, Hannah, Steven, Mark, Maria, Dustin, Christopher, Angela and Eric; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Bergey of Telford, Pennsylvania; brother, Lester (Jean) Gehman Lansdale, Pennsylvania, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark N. Landes in 1981; her parents, and a brother, Earl Gehman.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 26, 2011 at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street North, St. Michael, Minnesota. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, Minnesota.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Gideon Bibles. Cards for Gideon Bibles will be available at the funeral home.

    Eva was a second “Mom” to me. I have so many great memories of the Amundson and Landes family times together. Blessed be her memory!
