Esther A. Klemz, age 98 of Buffalo passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.

She was born on November 10, 1911 in Albion Township, Wright County the daughter of Frank & O’tillie Mistelske Rieck.

Esther was baptized on January 21, 1912 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 16, 1926.

Esther lived in her parent’s home until she married Arne L. Klemz on October 9, 1932 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She was formerly employed as a cook for twenty three years at the Buffalo Hospital. Esther also did volunteer work for various churches she belonged to.

They also lived in Silver Creek, Sacramento, California and Buffalo. Esther lived her last years in the homes of her children.

She was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

She loved life, her family, flowers, birds and working in her garden.

Survived by children: Arvid A. (Pamela) Klemz of Maple Lake and Rozanne E. Pirker of Buffalo; grandchildren: Dana (Rosa) Pirker of Texas, Gregory (Beverly) Pirker of PA and Penny Pirker of MD; great grandchildren: Rachel, Alayna, Tessa, Aidan and Jeremy; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband: Arne Klemz, her parents: Frank & O’tillie Rieck, siblings: Herman, Robert, Gertrude, Lester and Ethel in infancy and by a son-in-law: Philip D. Pirker.

Funeral services for Esther Klemz were held on Thursday, January 14th at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor Christian Bode officiated.

Interment Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

A visitation was held on Thursday, January 14th one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket Bearers were Dana Pirker-grandson, Greg Pirker-grandson, Dale Fieldseth-godson, Reed Carlson-grand nephew, Jeremy Carlson-grand nephew and Gary Bonk-special friend & neighbor.
