Erick Ronald Johnson, age 92 of Buffalo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born January 16, 1928 in Stutsman County, North Dakota, the son of Erick Ronald Johnson, Sr., and Millie (Nordby).
Erick served in the United States Army for three years in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1953.
Erick attended the University of North Dakota on the GI Bill. He was a Bartender and Taxi Driver before starting as a salesman at Baker Manufacturing in 1957, a wholesale plumbing and heating supply company. Erick worked for Baker for most of his career and retired from the company in the early 1990’s.
Erick loved socializing with family and friends. He took up golf, bowling, and pool after retiring to Arizona, still playing pool (and beating his daughter) into his 90’s.
Erick was preceded in death by his first wife, Adeline Kienzle Johnson; siblings Theodore (Agnes), Ralph (Lorraine), Grace Felton (Ed), Irene Moni (Doug), Mayme Buschbacher (Eddie), and sister-in-law Ardis Johnson.
Survived by his current wife, Betty Johnson; brother Andrew; children Ron (Jennifer Hausler); Karen Christian (Bruce); Cindy Mark (Chris); step-son Bill Schroeder; grandchildren Alex Johnson, Emily Johnson (Samantha Hammerly), Blake Christian, Brianna Christian (fiancé Josh Lennox), Ethan Mark, and Simon Mark; step-grandchildren William Schroeder, Lynsey Schroeder, Sara Schroeder, Tina Register (Thad), Laurie Brand (Todd), and Natasha Roberts (Mike); many nieces and nephews; and eleven step-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm, at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hanover.
The family would like to thank everyone at Park Terrace Assisted Living, Park Terrace Memory Care, and Park View Care Center. The staff has been an extended part of our family, and we took comfort in knowing such caring people were looking after our Dad. We could not have asked for a better place for him to be.
