Visitation Information
Emmett “Sam” Steffens, age 81, of Buffalo passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at The Buffalo Hospital.
He was born on April 13, 1929 in Frankfort Township, Wright County the son of Charles & Dorothy Robeck Steffens.
In February of 1969, Emmett T. Steffens & Dorothy Berneck were joined in holy marriage.
Emmett was an electrician in the construction business for many years.
He attended The Church of St. Francis in Buffalo.
Survived by his step children: Beverly Christian of Maple Grove, Barbara Wenzk of Renton, Washington, Yvonne (Ken) Schermann of Hamel and Jim (Doris) Berneck of Maple Valley, Washington; nine step grandchildren; a sister: Gloria Varner of Princeton; a sister-in-law: Delores Steffens of St. Michael; many nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife in 1991, his parents, brothers: Eugene, William, Norman, Lloyd and Francis and by a sister: Eunice Munson.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emmett “Sam” Steffens was held on Monday, March 28th at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Father Nathaniel Meyers was the Celebrant.
Interment followed at The St. Michael Cemetery.
A visitation was held on Sunday, March 27th from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. A Parish Prayer service was held at 7:00 P.M.
Casket Bearers were Dave Steffens, Wayne Steffens, Jerry Steffens, Charles Thompson, Scott Salonek and Colleen Furbur.
I have many memories of Sam while growing up in St. Michael. He was a great rollerskater and taught me how to rollerskate. Sorry to hear of his passing.
