Eloise Minnie Halverson was born on November 20, 1912 in Bright, WI to Carl and Louise Halverson. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1930. She was trained as an x-ray technician and worked for many years with a doctor in Owen, WI.

In 1941 Eloise married Everett Jacobson and their marriage was blessed with three children. After her husband died in 1969, Eloise worked as an occupational therapist in Eau Claire and Janesville, WI.

Throughout her almost 100 years of life, she collected many stories and loved to share them, especially the ones in which she got into trouble as a child. Her life story immortalized through an interview conducted by her granddaughter, Jeanine, with StoryCamps and is archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

For the last four years of her life, Eloise resided under compassionate and loving care at Park Terrace Assisted Living Center in Buffalo where she developed many friendships. She had a contagious laugh and her smile and friendly nature made new residents feel welcomed. She loved to play cards and her sharp mind and quick wit gave her opponents a challenge.

After 99 years of life, Eloise passed away quietly and peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2012 from natural causes.

Eloise is survived by two sons, Ronald (Judy) Jacobson of Buffalo, MN Richard (Mary) Jacobson of Onalaska, WI, daughter Mary (Mike) of San Jose, CA, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Maelon in 1971 and a sister, Rachel, in 1999.

A memorial service was held for Eloise on May 14 at Park Terrace Assisted Living Center Chapel. She will be cremated and buried in Eau Claire, WI.

The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
