Ella E. Wagner, age 95, of Buffalo, formerly of St. Michael & Hanover, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Ella was born October 26, 1915 in Greenwood Township, Minnesota, the daughter of John A. and Alvina (Bechtold) Hohenstein.
On September 29, 1937, Ella E. Hohenstein and Russell M. Wagner were joined in holy marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage in Hanover by Pastor Beiswanger.
Ella and Russell formerly owned and operated The Transformer Inn in Greenwood Township, rural Hennepin County and were longtime proprietors of Russ & El’s Bar in Hanover and Wagner’s Supermarket also in Hanover. She was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Survived by her sister, Hattie Daluge; nephews, Willard Lieder and Donald Daluge; nieces, Lois Stieg and Darlene Wandersee. Also survived by her close friends, John, Terry and Amanda Oliver and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wagner in 2006, an infant son on September 21,1942; her parents, John A. and Alvina (Bechtold) Hohenstein; sisters, Anna Lieder and 3 infant siblings and nephew, Daryle Daluge.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover with Pastor Gorden Estenson officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery next to her husband, Russell.
Casket Bearers are Willard Lieder, Willard Stieg, John P. Oliver, Donald Daluge, Randy Vollbrecht and Jim Wagner.
The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville assisted the family with arrangements.
