Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Bachman) Burke, age 75 of St. Michael, Minnesota, passed away May 10, 2022.

She was born in Bowdle, South Dakota to Mathew and Mathilda (Gerber) Bachman. She graduated from Bowdle High School with the class of 1964.

On August 28, 1965, Betty was joined in marriage to Jarold A. “Jerry” Burke at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Bowdle, South Dakota. God blessed their marriage with a daughter and son. With Jerry’s job, the family moved around to many states, including Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, and then finally settled in Corcoran, Minnesota.

Betty and Jerry loved to travel in their RV, and spent many winters living in Mission, Texas. Betty was fond of camping, shopping, cooking, spending time with family and friends along with spending time with her beloved dog, Bella. Betty was known for her caring and loving personality. She was always smiling, had a cheerful nature, and loved being a grandma.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Mathew and Mathilda Bachman; brothers, Jerome and Delbert; brothers-in-law, Bert Leidholt and Jim Burke.

She is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Tom) Engels of Maple Grove; son, Darren (Amy) Burke of St. Michael; grandchildren, T.J. Engels, Ashley (Troy) Henkel, Andrew and Connor Burke; brother, Paul (Patty) Bachman; sister, Virginia Leidholt; brother-in-law, Dave Burke; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Burke and Deloris Bachman; and many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at the St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, MN. Interment to follow at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, St. Michael, MN.

    So sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She was just a little girl when I last saw her. Virginia and I were classmates at the rural neighborhood school and we graduated from BzHS together. I remember her as a rosy cheeked little girl who always seemed happy. God Rest Her Soul!!
