Eleanor Rose Armstrong, age 81 of New Hope, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017. She was born March 31, 1935 in Minneapolis, the daughter of William Micheal and Gertrude Florence (Cabanowski) Knoll.

On July 9, 1955, Eleanor Knoll and Theodore Armstrong were united in marriage in a small in home wedding that her mother did the cooking for, and later their marriage was blessed in a church.

Eleanor graduated from North High in Northeast Minneapolis and worked for Russ’ Bakery and Pizza, supervisor for Dura Process, Honeywell, and was a florist for Main Floral in Anoka and made floral arrangements for Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN and for weddings. She enjoyed volunteering for many things in the community- including making 507 Easter baskets per year with people at Church of St. Raphael in Crystal, crafting, making floral arrangements, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Armstrong; significant other, Dick Flood; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kari Armstrong; granddaughter, Whitney Armstrong; grandson, Jefferson Vite; and sisters, Ruth Herrmann and Lorraine Kienitz.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Cyndie Winkelman-Armstrong, Greg Armstrong, Michelle Johnston (Willie Larson), Douglas Armstrong (Diane); grandchildren, Amber Neitzel (Matt), Kory Winkelman (Amanda), Tyler Armstrong (Amanda), Nicole Liebl (Adam), Adam Armstrong, Tiffanie Lord (Jacob), Holly Penoyer (Shane), Nick Winkelman (Briana), Ben Armstrong (Sherri), Kaylee Armstrong, Lane Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Riley, Rhys and Xavier Neitzel, Sofia Vite, Kevin, Breanna and Chase “Bear” Winkelman; sisters, Marc Harris and Margie Wells; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor Armstrong will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior at Church of St. Timothy, 707 89th Avenue NE, Blaine, MN. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Honorary Casket Bearer is Eleanor’s grandson: Lane Armstrong.

Casket Bearers will be Eleanor’s grandsons: Kory Winkelman, Tyler Armstrong, Adam Armstrong, Nicholas Winkelman, Benjamin Armstrong, and Riley Neitzel.
