Edwin Adolph Koepke, age 88 of Annandale died peacefully Saturday, November 29, 2008 at The Buffalo Sunrise Cottages.

He was born in Chatham Township on January 15, 1920 the son of Fred and Alvina Streich Koepke.

Edwin was baptized on February 18, 1920 by Pastor Streufert and confirmed on April 9th, 1933 by Pastor Kanning. He has been a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township his entire life. Edwin formerly served as an Elder, sang in the Church choir and was an active participant in the Bible study group.

He grew up on a farm near Rasset. He attended both the Bethlehem Parochial school and Rasset public school. Edwin helped his Dad farming and later continued to do so for himself until he retired at nearly 80 years old.

Whenever there was some spare time, he liked to go fishing, either on Rock or Henry Lake. He also enjoy eating fish. Other enjoyments he had were playing cards, shaking dice, visiting people and was a very good dancer. Later in life, he did some traveling and found that there were other beautiful states besides Minnesota.

Edwin is survived by his two loving sisters: Irma Uecker and Frieda Gunderson both of Annandale; nephews, nieces, many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Clara Klemz and Lydia Goerke, brothers-in-law: Arthur Klemz, Herbert Goerke, Marvin Uecker and Walter Gunderson.

Funeral services for Edwin Koepke were held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 1:00 P.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Pastor Lynn Machula officiated and interment followed at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.

Ruth Goerke was the organist and congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art”, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “I’m But a Stranger Here”.

Edwin’s nieces sang “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”.

Friends called on Tuesday, December 2nd from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Prayer service was held at 7:00 P.M.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Craig Kjeldahl, Harold Schilling and Simon Dykhuizen.

Casket Bearers were Myron Uecker, Ralph Uecker, DuWayne Goerke, Fred Gunderson, Alan Gunderson and Brian Gunderson.

    So sorry for your loss. I remember taking Mom & Dad out to see him on his farm. Also, at Aunt Freida’s birthday party last year. He was a great guy to talk to. Your in our thoughts and prayers.
