Edward L. Kalstrom, age 83, of Plato & formerly of St. Bonifacius passed away on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at Presbyterian Homes in Spring Park.
He was born on May 15, 1928 in Marysville Township, Wright County the son of Edward & Emma Erickson Kalstrom.
Edward graduated from Cambridge High School in 1947.
He honorably served his Country in The Korean War.
Ed was formerly employed at Minnesota Rubber as a machinist for many years. Following retirement, he was a caretaker at a lama farm in Maple Plain and also was the custodian at Grumpy’s Bar in St. Bonifacius.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, was good at telling stories and had a great sense of humor. Ed was very kind hearted.
Survived by a sister: Merrilla A. Socher of Montrose; nieces and nephews: Iris (Mike) Hecker of Mound (Iris was also Eds caregiver), Debbie (Jack) Wambeke of Maple Lake, Dan (Tammy) Socher of Waverly and Carrie Solien of Montrose; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Vincent & Lloyd Kalstrom; sisters: Lorraine Janicula and Catherine Kalstrom; brothers-in-law: Leo Socher & Marvin “Bud” Janicula.
A Memorial service for Edward Kalstrom will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 10:30 A.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Interment Swedesburg Lutheran Cemetery in rural Waverly.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8th one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
