Edward Francis Moore, age 83 formerly of Buffalo Minnesota died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Kanmar Hospice Home in Tucson Arizona. He was born October 28, 1934 to the late James and Mary (Paumen) Moore.
Ed graduated from Buffalo High School in 1952 and at age 18 joined the Navy. Upon his return he enrolled in the University of Minnesota to pursure his career in Special Education which brought him to Tucson, Arizona in 1975.
Ed was the eighth of nine children and his life was “quite a ride” as he began to write about it in June of 2017. He was born on a small farm in Chatman, MN where his favorite pastime was sitting on the big rock along Highway 55 making games of counting cars as they went by. Ed made life-long friends through school with Ralph Vieau and Al Smith; enlisting in the Navy together and exploring the world at an early age which Ed continued in retirement. His travels took him all over the world where he enjoyed the many cultures he discovered, especially Dilsen, Belgium where he developed deep connections with the Paumen side of his family.
After retiring for Special education in Tucson, Ed joined a hiking club and shared his love of the Sonoran Desert. His desire to keep busy took him to Canyon Ranch Resort & Spa where he worked part-time for 10 years and enjoyed meeting interesting people from all over the world. During retirement, Ed moved to San Diego for 4 years where he lived in the historic El Cortez hotel and served as a Docent on the U.S.S. Midway, which he was very proud of. He returned to Tucson in 2015 where he remained until he passed.
Ed loved to tell stories and make people laugh – a trait passed down from his mother and shared by many in his family. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoyed a good game of black jack and loved his family.
Ed was preceded in death by his brothers: George (Dolores)Moore, Russell (Laverne)Moore, Orville (Sarah) Moore; sisters: Lauretta (Moore)Lepinski, Marilyn (Moore) Eggergluss, and survived by his four children: Lisa(Michael) Gapinski of Phoenix, AZ; Michael Moore(Franco Brindisi of New York City; Gwen Moore of San Jose, CA; Colleen Moore of San Diego, CA; sister Kathleen (James) Ratican; brothers: Marvin(Sally)Moore, Dennis(Ronnie)Moore; brother-in-law: Melvin Eggergluss, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, and former spouse Mary(Shierts)Moore. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, June 23rd in Buffalo, Minnesota. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Maple Lake, MN.
