Edith L. Wilson, a former resident of Montrose, Colorado from 1992 to 2004, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Monticello/Big Lake Nursing Home in Monticello, Minnesota., where she had been living since 2004.
Edith L. Jones Wilson was born July 13, 1914 in Maroa, Illinois to Harry Jones and Emma Cooper Jones, one of five children. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Maroa.
On August 3, 1940, Edith married Robert Lee Wilson, Sr. in Davenport, Iowa. They had six children, Robert Jr., Rolland, Betty, Richard, Jeannine and David. Edith and Robert lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, Colorado, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Missouri. They were married 54 years. Robert Sr. died in 1994, and Edith remained in Montrose until 2004. Edith loved reading, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, sewing, and horses. Her family was an important part of her life, and she kept track of all the birthdays and anniversaries. She was known for always having a smile on her face. Survivors are Robert Jr. (Joyce) of St. Petersburg, FL; Betty (Loren) of Montrose, CO; Richard (Pamela) of Bellingham, WA; Jeannine (Bruce) Bodette of Burlington, VT; and David (Heidi) of Elk River, MN. She had 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sr., and one son, Rolland; two brothers, Harold and William, two sisters, Leona and Hazel, nephew, Richard (Dickie) Jones; and great-grandson, Billie Stringer.
A Funeral Service for Edith Wilson was held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at 10:00am at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose, Colorado with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. Interment followed the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.
