Dwayne Leo Klatt, age 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday morning at his home in Buffalo, MN after a long battle with cancer.

Dwayne was born to Leo and Helen Klatt on Oct. 23, 1941. He was baptized on Nov. 16, 1941 by Pastor Berwald at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo and was confirmed in the Christian faith on May 1, 1955, also at St. John’s, in which he was a lifelong faithful member.

Dwayne grew up on the family dairy farm right on the east edge of Buffalo. Dwayne graduated from Buffalo High School in 1959. He helped on the family farm until honorably serving his country in The United States Army during the Viet Nam War.
After coming home from Vietnam he received his Accounting Degree from the Minnesota School of Business and started working for Cargill Inc. While working at Cargill Dwayne met his future wife Roseann Zagrabelny. They were married at St. Austin Church in NE Mpls on Oct. 7, 1972 by Bishop Raymond Lucker. Their union was blessed with three children. The following year Dwayne returned to the family farm and started farming with his dad and his brother John and later his brother Woodrow . It was the one job Dwayne really enjoyed. After the farm equipment was sold in 1988 he worked at Landscape Structures in Delano until his retirement.

Dwayne had many hobbies including fishing, playing cards, collecting antiques, especially stoneware and glassware.

Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Helen Klatt.

He is survived by his wife Roseann (Zagrabelny) and three children, Dwayne Jr. of Eden Prairie, Jason of Buffalo and Teresa (Todd) Ternes of Marshall, 3 grandchildren, Samantha, Alexis and Kayle Ternes; 6 younger brothers Randolph of Buffalo, John (Virginia) of Buffalo, Winston (Gloria) of Lakeville, Roger (Carol) of Monticello, Peter (Gail) of Eagan and Woodrow (Kari) of Howard Lake.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo with Pastor David Taylor officiating.

Visitation will be held at 5-7 pm on Friday May 2 and funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 3.

Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery on Monday, May 5.

Casket bearers will be Dwayne’s younger brothers Randolph, John, Winston, Roger, Peter and Woodrow.

    Dear Roseann and family,
    We are sorry to hear of Dwayne’s passing, and want you to know that we have you in our thoughts and prayers. I am in Arizona for two weeks, and wasn’t home for his funeral. Our class reunion is scheduled for September, and Dwayne will be remembered and missed by his classmates and friends. God’s Blessings to his family.
