Duane Harry Lemke, age 87, longtime resident of Buffalo, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at New River Medical Center in Monticello, MN.
He was born on April 29, 1925 in Princeton, MN the son of Harry and Ruth (Kriesel) Lemke. He was the second of five children.
He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1944. He worked the farm with his dad before he went into the Army. He joined the US Army and was a member of the military police in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He met Clarice Joanne Widmark in 1953. They were married on June 25, 1955. They were married almost 35 years.
Duane attended Dunwoody College and worked at Lakeland Door Company for 27 years and CBN Packing for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cribbage and horseshoes.
Duane is survived by his children Rebecca Ruth (Paul) Hansen of Newberry Park, CA, David Duane (Lenore) Lemke of Monticello, MN, Judith Joanne Lemke-Kline (Scott) of Norwood-Young America, MN, Cynthia Lemke (significant other Steve) of Vadnais Heights, MN, grandchildren Bradley Robert (Catherine) Kline, Tiffany Joanne Kline, Nicholas John Lemke, Bryce Raymond Lemke and Austin Paul Hansen, sisters Donna (Lyle) Schlief, Doreen Mayer and Darlene Lemke, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clarice Lemke, and an infant sister, Harriet.
Funeral services for Duane Lemke will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN. Pastor Luke Schmidt will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 5-8 PM. Further visitation will be held on Friday at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment with military honors will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Buffalo, MN
Casket Bearers will be Bradley Kline, Tiffany Kline, Nicholas Lemke, Bryce Lemke, Matthew Mayer and Marcus Mayer.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
